TIESCO/KAY 65 SG COPY?

TIESCO/KAY 65 SG COPY? THE NECK, PRESSED METAL BRIDGE, WHITE KNOB ARROWS, STRAP BUTTON EARLY TIESCO/HOFNER TREMELO, PLY BODY, ROSEWOOD FRETBOARD,MACHINE HEADS ARE DEFINITELY ALL EARLY TIESCO/KAY.
THIS GUITAR WAS A COMPLETE WRITEOFF, TREM ARM AND SPRING WAS MISSING, MACHINE HEADS
MISSING PLASTIC PRESS FIT BUSHES. NECK TWISTED AND UNPLAYABLE, NECK POCKET BROKEN AWAY (ply split into layers). WHY FIX IT? IT BELONGED TO OWNERS GRANDFATHER AND HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN TO THE GRANDCHILDREN. OBVIOUS SENTIMENTAL VALUE. WHEN THESE GUITARS ARE PLAYABLE,THE TONE OF THE OLD PICKUPS IS GREAT ,ESPECIALLY CLEAN WITH ECHO (SURF MUSIC HERE WE COME). DISTORTION OR FUZZ IS USELESS.

REPAIRS .
1. THE FIRST WAS TO DIGITIZE THE BODY SHAPE AND CAVITIES AND CNC CUT NEW BODY, SLIGHTLY THICKER AND FROM A SOLID BLOCK OF QUEENSLAND MAPLE.

2. NEXT WAS TO REMOVE FRETBOARD FROM NECK AND SET TRUSS ROD TO LEVEL NECK, THEN PLANE NECK BACK TO FLAT (REMOVETWIST) THIS WOOD HAS HAD ABOUT 40 YEARS ODD TO SORT OUT WHERE IT WAS GOING.

3.CUT NEW FRETBOARD FROM VERY DRY HARD CLOSE GRAIN REDGUM. GLUE TO NECK AND FRET.

4. FULL FRET LEVEL AND FRET DRESS
.
5. POLISH AND CLEAN METALWORK PICKUPS AND SCRATCHPLATE

6. NEW ELECTRONICS AND FULL REWIRE.

7.APPLY SUNBURST COLOURS AND CLEAR TOPCOATS AND BUFF.

8. REASSEMBLE WITH 6 INLINE WILKINSON EZLOK MACHINE HEADS AND NEW ALMOST IDENTICAL TREMELO, EVEN THE SCREW DOWN HOLES MATCH EXACTLY.
IN THE WASHUP...LOOKS ABOUT 30 YEARS OLD BUT WELL KEPT, PLAYS AND FEELS AWESOME.
SOUND IS GREAT BUT LIMITED TO PLAYING CLEAN SOUNDS. EVERY NOTE IS CLEAR AND HAS A GOOD
SCATTER HANDWOUND PICKUP TONE.

Col's 64 Fender Jaguar

Col's 64 Fender Jaguar
This absolute classic guitar had been resprayed white.
Unfortunately, that just didn't seem to be quite right.
In fact, it was totally wrong.
The guitar was completely stripped to the 'bones' and sanded smooth. Yellow stain was applied and then d. brown and red blended into the yellow. Finally, coats of two-pack were applied. Each coat was allowed to harden and sanded down until a total of ten coats produced a very thin, smooth, high gloss finish.
Peter's Sunn Strat...
Made In India.

Delivered to me in bits with instructions, "Put it back together and make it playable."
This is just Great... love a challenge.
The neck is ok but needs 4 new frets and some levelling and fret dressing. Truss rod is working so no problems setting relief and electronic pickups are good. Assemble all the parts plus a new volume control pot. knob set higher up the scratch plate for easier volume fade when using a steel. Added coil cut switch to Humbucka. Tremelo is a disaster... instructed to, "Just lock off". Actually, would not have been a problem to replace. Overall results after setup... not bad at all - believe me, this guitar has had a hard life... had it been human, it looked ready for a triple bypass. The customer was actually amazed that it actually played... and played well. Good for another 25 years I reckon.
